Leftover days

Thanksgiving came and went and now we all (well, many of us) have food for days.

My day today is starting with a black, very strong (espresso like) cafecito, while I type these lines, thinking of different ways I want to finish the leftovers from yesterday’s feast. How do you re-invent them? There are just so many sandwiches you can have or calentado you can make. Any ideas?

How did you spend your thanksgiving, did you even take part in it? If we do not go into it’s historical meaning, what really happened between the groups claimed to have started the tradition or the gruesome outcome for Native Americans in the United States and the world, in general, did you spend time with your family and loved ones? or, did you heat up a pizza and watched movies all day on your couch, alone?

I was fortunate to spend it with my mom and my uncle. Even more fortunate because I did not have to cook! He brought all the goodies, I just supplied the wine. I was not planning anything special this year, last year I cooked a whole thanksgiving dinner because one of my nieces was in town and I wanted her to have a taste of the tradition, even though we don’t really partake on it every year, but this year I was going to make frijoles for lunch! (uncle saved the day! lol)

It turned out to be a very fun day: family, food, wine, music, endless conversation and, of course, un cafecito.
